Common questions

Why are redirect chains bad for SEO?
Every step in a redirect chain costs time (latency). This slows down the load time (page speed). In addition, a small part of the 'link juice' is lost at every hop. Google recommends avoiding chains and linking directly to the target.

What is the difference between 301 and 302?
A 301 redirect is permanent and tells Google: "This page has moved for good". The ranking is transferred to the new URL. A 302 redirect is temporary. Google keeps the old URL in the index, since the move is only temporary (e.g. maintenance work).

How do I fix "Too Many Redirects"?
This error usually arises from an endless loop. Page A redirects to page B, and page B back to page A. Check your .htaccess, Nginx config or WordPress plugins (like Redirection) to find conflicting rules.
